Malcolm X is one of the many great leaders of African Americans who strived hard throughout his life to abolish all injustices against the black race and is considered among the most audacious and headstrong leader of the African Americans. Although, he was a Muslim, he still manages to win a place in the political scene and fought hard to get people to treat all men equally.
Although he is one of the most influential leader for the black race, many have criticized him for preaching lessons of black supremacy and racism. Malcolm X went through a difficult childhood. Although the beginnings were good but at the age of thirteen, his father passed away and his mother was admitted to a mental facility.
There afterwards, he lived in many different foster homes and eventually got involved with the bad people and committed crimes involving drugs, racketeering, robbery and gambling. He was eventually caught and imprisoned for the crimes, given a sentence of eight to ten years. It was when in the prison that he came across the religion of Islam and adopted it after recognizing it as truthfully being the word of God. Originally know by the name Malcolm Little, after embracing Islam, he replaced Little with X referring to the unknown African origins. After embracing Islam and being released from the prison, he joined the most politically active African American party, Nation of Islam but after having several misunderstandings with their leader, Elijah Mohammad he left. After that he laid the foundation of Muslim Mosque Inc. and spoke many times in front of many different audiences to unite the American people and erase the racial differences between them. In the year 1965, when he was publicly addressing people for afro American unity, he was shot to death by members of the Nation of Islam.
