Robert Redford is set to expand the Sundance Film Festival across the pond. He has done wonders for the independet film comunity.
American actor and director Redford founded the annual Utah based festival in 1981. On Tuesday, March 15, 2011 he annouced that he will be bringing Sundance Film Festival to London, England in the spring of 2012.
"The festival will held from April 26 to April 29, for four days he added.
“It is our mutual goal to bring to the UK the very best in current American independent cinema, to introduce the artists responsible for it, and in essence help build a picture of our country that is broadly reflective of the diversity of voices not always seen in our cultural exports,” Redford says.
We’ll be interested to see how the British respond to our American independent films, but we applaud Redford’s efforts to spread some positive U.S. culture to other parts of the world.
