Pi Day

Pi Day, Today the March 14, is a Pi day.It is celebrated to recognize Pi, a mathmaticl term which define the relation between a circle's circumference and its diameter. It also show the relation between a circle's area and its radius.

To calculate the circumference of a circle we have to multiply the diameter with the radius. Similarly if the circumference is divided by the diameter we have the Pi (3.141592....). Pi has infinite numbers after the 3.14 and there is no real pattern.

To calculate the area of a circle the square of its radius is multiply by Pi. Therefore Pi is used in many calculation related to the circle. So March 14, (3.14) Pi Day is a good way to teach the use of Pi in Geometerical and mathematical calculations

In short Pi is the ratio between the diameter of a circle and its circumference.

What should you do on this Pi Day?

You can create your own games about ways to use Pi, or you can put some problems on cards and have your kids solve them using Pi.

You can bake a cake and carved on it the symbol of Pi to recognize it to your kids.

Anyway, Pi Day is a fun opportunity to learn and have fun together as a family!
