Gonorrhea is the common disease of reproductive system. It is a sexually transmitted disease. It is so common that aproximatly 700,000 people affected by this disease annually alone in United stats of America. A bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae is responsible for the disease, who grow in dark and dingy places. It not only the present individual but also transfered to the next generation through the infected mother.
The symptoms of the disease are different in different patiants. Some of the patiants do not feel any symptoms although they are infected while the other devolope some signs of disease after a few days of the infection.
The main symptom in man is burning during the urination while the women feel itching. If the proper treatment is not taken, the disease caused disability to have the children in both men and women.
In severe cases, the bacterium enters the blood stream and travels to different parts of the body hindering proper functioning and causing severe problems. One of the biggest drawback of this infection is that it makes an individual more susceptible to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection that leads to an immuno suppressive disease, Acquired Immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
The disease is diagnosed simply by taking the patients urine sample or a direct swab from cervix or urethra. The sample is then stained and directly visualized under a microscope, a process known as gram stain visualization.
The most common and effective treatment of this infection is the use of antibiotics but one must be very careful to take those only when prescribed by a doctor. Ingestion of antibiotics unnecessarily can make a person more prone to other bacterial infections. One must also always keep is mind that abstinence is the best possible solution for these sorts of problems.
