Firefox 4 Release Date, At last waiting comes to an end, release date of latest version of Firefox web browser is announced by the Mozilla.
Mozilla senior director of platform engineering Damon Sicore said in a developer forum posting that barring setbacks, the final builds of Firefox 4 would launch on 22 March 2011.
“Both IT and marketing have indicated that March 22nd is an acceptable final launch date,” wrote Sicore.
“If at any time we discover issues that would block final release, we would issue an RC2 as soon as possible, reset the ship date, and communicate to everyone.”
The release would conclude what has been a tumultuous development cycle for Firefox 4. Originally pushed into its beta stage in the summer of 2010, the browser has been hit with delays that extended beta testing into February.
When it is released, Firefox 4 promises a host of new features and improvements. The browser will add support for HTML5 components and introduce hardware acceleration for Windows, Mac and Linux systems.
Improved security and privacy controls will also be included in the browser. Firefox 4 will sport a “do not track” mode, which will allow users to opt out of behavioural tracking tools used by some web sites.
The release of Firefox 4 will continue an already busy season in the browser market. Earlier this month, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 9, an update many in the industry hailed as a major step forward for Microsoft.
