Theodore Roosovelt was the 26th president of the United States and is considered among the top ranking presidents who ever held office. For his services, he has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize of the year 1906. Theodore Roosevelt was born in the late 19th century into a wealthy family. He was home schooled owing to his feeble health as a child. He joined Harvard where he excelled not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities. After graduating from Harvard, he joined Columbia Law school but only one year later, an opportunity arose that led him towards the life long dream of a political career. He therefore dropped out of Colombia in an attempt to try out his luck at this dream.

His first triumph was when he was elected to the New York Assembly where he served for three years. Owing to his wife’s ill health, he left the political scene for sometime, returning to his father’s cattle ranch to look after the family business. A great turn of events started for him when his mother and wife died on the same day. He married again in a few years and then he was pumped to rejoin the political arena. He started off at the Civil Services rising to the rank of New York City Police Commissioner in just a few years. He also worked in the armed forces for a few years. In 1898, he joined the Republican party and ran for the seat of Governor of the city of New York successfully. Because of his success as the governor, he was appointed Vice president in 1901 for President Mckinley. He was sworn into the presidential office after Mckinley was shot to death in 1902. After he retirement from the office, he spent the rest of his life traveling around. It was during one of these trips that he got malaria and died at the age of sixty years.
