Wilson Holloway, A memorial candlelight service for Wilson Holloway will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Oklahoma Christian School.
Holloway died Wednesday afternoon after nearly a three-year battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was 22.
Wilson Holloway, a high-school teammate of NBA player for the Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin, died from Hodgkin’s lymphoma Wednesday, ESPN reports. Holloway has been battling the disease since 2008.
Holloway was a football standout at OCS and at Tulsa. People are being asked to bring as many candles, pictures and flowers as possible to honor Holloway’s memory.
According to the source, Holloway, was previously nominated for the 2010 Rare Disease Champion award. Griffin then tweeted: “My boy @Wilson Holloway is up for The Rare Disease Champion Award and he needs ur vote.”
Holloway and Griffin attended Oklahoma Christian High School together. Afterwards, Holloway played football for the University of Tulsa until he was diagnosed with the disease.
According to ABC News, Tulsa Athletics Director Bubba Cunningham said Holloway “fought the disease with a tireless and enthusiastic spirit.” Holloway actually beat the disease twice by 2009 but finally succumbed to it this week. Our condolences are with his family at this difficult time.
