Tracey Thurman was a housewife in Connecticut. He was married to the Charles Buck Thurman. Charles Buck was a cruel man and harsh. She had been suffering domestic violence for long. She was abused and physically tortured by her husband for a long time. But at last this cruelty came to end.

One bloody night when Buck, her husband had beaten her 13 times, arrested, and Tracy could be saved by doctors.

A Cry For Help movie is a  true story of Tracey Thurman abused and battered by her violent husband, but ignored by the Police.

Thurman Law was the result of Tracey's effort which called for mandatory arrests in wife-beating cases in connecticut and several other states. when the local police failed to give her proper protection she sue the Police officers in 1989. Tracey Tracey Thurman was left partially paralyzed and received a $2.3 million in damages in 1985.

A film inspired by Tracey Thurman story was made in 1989, directed by Robert Markowitz. A Cry For Help: The Tracy Thurman Story first aired on October 2, 1989. Nancy McKeon, who played Tracey Thurman in A Cry for Help, starred in the film in the hope that it would keep Buck Thurman in the prison for a longer time.

Plot Summary of the Cry for Help:

    Tracy Thurman was married to a man who abused her. But he continues to harass her after she gets a restraining order, and the police do little to help. When he brutally beats her and slashes her throat in front of police, she sues the city and the police department for failing to protect her.
