POMONA, CALIF. (AP) —Larry Dixon put together a record pass of 3.770 seconds at 324.98 mph on Saturday to take the top qualifying spot in Top Fuel at the NHRA Winternationals.
Cruz Pedregon was the top qualifier in Funny Car and Erica Enders was fastest in Pro Stock.
The defending series champion, Dixon had the 49th top qualifying mark of his career, moving within three of Don Prudhomme for No. 8 on the NHRA’s career list.
Pedregon laid down a blistering 4.015 seconds at 313.22 mph that ranked as the third quickest in Funny Car history. It was the 40th No. 1 qualifier of his career, and ensured a meeting with his brother Tony in the first round of eliminations on Sunday.
Enders earned the second No. 1 qualifier of her career with a 6.553-second pass at 211.69 mph on Thrusday that held up through the rest of qualifying.
