Peter Fonda

Peter Fonda got quite a shock today. The 'Easy Rider' star was driving on Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles when he pulled over to investigate a car parked along the side of the road. TMZ reports that it was around 2PM that Fonda found the dead body of a man slumped over in the car's front seat.

Fonda called 911 to report his tragic find. Responders tell TMZ that the man in the car took his own life and that the body has been there for three days.

The 70-year-old is no stranger to brushes with death. On his eleventh birthday, Fonda accidentally shot himself in the stomach and nearly died. Thankfully he recovered from this incident, moving on to a prosperous career in Hollywood which included close friendships with members of The Beatles and his 'Easy Rider' co-star Dennis Hopper.

The veteran actor found it difficult to bid farewell to Hopper, wanting his friend to recover so he could tell him, "It's been a hell of a ride." Fonda also hated that Hopper had "to go out with all these clouds that are going on with his marriage."

There's no word yet on the identity of the man Fonda found or any information on his method of suicide. Although the experience of finding a dead body was undoubtedly traumatic, Fonda definitely acted as a good samaritan in the wake of his horrible finding.
