Both No. 1 seeds have now exited the NFL playoffs. The Pats were 14-2 in the regular season and had been the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl, especially after dismantling the Jets 45-3 in their last meeting.
New England put up more yards, but the Jets made more big plays, hassled Tom Brady all day long, and forced the game’s lone turnover. Mark Sanchez threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions, Shonn Greene ran for 76, and Shaun Ellis led the hellacious pass rush with a pair of sacks.
The Jets will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday at 6:30 pm ET on CBS for a chance to play in the Super Bowl.
