The rumor claimed that seven died after Tide detergent samples that they had received in the mail. Supposedly, it was contaminated with anthrax.
The anthrax rumor resurfaced in the last couple of days, but it’s actually nearly a decade old. Proctor & Gamble, makers of Tide, addressed the hoax last year by posting this on the company message board [via About.com]:
