Royal Wedding Invitation List Has Been Criticised In British Media

Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Britain got an invitation for the Royal Wedding – this invitation has been criticized in British media because two recent Prime Ministers of Britain have been ‘Insulted’.
Neither of Gordon Brown nor Tony Blair will be among 1900 dignitaries invited to fill the Westminster Abbey in London. But Gabriel Machinga, who is Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Britain, will be there to  attend the wedding ceremony of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Stephen Glover, the Daily Mail columnist, said that the condition is merely unclear – it is mind-boggling in fact that Messrs Brown and Blair have not been disclosed to dignitaries but the Ambassador of Zimbabwe’s murderous regime has been invited. The situation is highly unfortunate that Brown and Blair are overlooked while few pretty unsavoury foreigners are requested along with few rackety private individuals.

It is reported that invitations to attend the marriage ceremony have been sent to Saudi Arabia’s Princess Fadwa bint Khalid and Prince Mohamed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Swaziland’s King Mswati III and the Crown Prince of Bahrain. However, Bahrain’s Crown Prince has refused the invitation because he wants to get out of arguments about him. Similarly Libyan ambassador to London has also refused the invitation.

One newspaper has even stated that instead of removing Zimbabwe from Commonwealth in 2003 and subjecting a travel ban on Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwean ambassador to London has gotten his name on the guest list of The Royal Wedding because these two countries are looking to keep their relations ‘normal’.
