Google Dictionary is a service of Google. Initially, it was a part of Google Translate, and now it is a standalone service.

This multilingual dictionary serves 28 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), Portuguese, Hindi, Dutch (only available as monolingual dictionary) , Finnish, Hebrew, Czech, Greek, Bulgarian, Croatian, Serbian, Bengali, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Thai, Arabic, Kannada, Marathi.

Albanian, Azerbaijani, Indonesian, Estonian, Armenian, Persian, Filipino, Dutch Swedish, Japanese, Latin, Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese and Yiddish have a semi-detailed dictionary in Google Translate.

Afrikaans, Basque, Belarusian, Danish, Welsh, Galician, Georgian, Haitian Creole, Irish, Icelandic, Catalan, Macedonian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Slovenian, Swahili and Urdu have no dictionary; when you type a word, it’s the translation.

It was believed that Google used definitions from Collins COBUILD. However, a blog site reported that Google Dictionary switched from the Collins COBUILD Advanced Learner’s English Dictionary to the Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English as its English definitions provider.
