Stradivarius Violin: Three people were arrested for stealing an old violin worth nearly $2 million from Min-Jin Kym an internationally acclaimed musician while she stopped for a snack at a London sandwich bar, the Associated Press reported on Friday. The South Korean violinist Min-Jin Kym was eating at a sandwich shop outside Euston Station on Nov. 29 when she noticed that her black violin case — which contained a Stradivarius and two valuable bows — was missing, according to the police. The violin, made in 1696, is one of about 400 made by Stradivarius that are still known to exist. The police arrested and charged John Maughan, 26, and two teenagers on Wednesday. The names of the youths, 16 and 14 years old, were not included in news reports because of British law. Mr. Maughan is in custody and the two teenagers are free on bail. The instrument has not yet been recovered and an insurance company has offered a reward for information. Ms. Kym, who is 32, began playing the violin at 6, made her international debut with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra when she was 13 and has performed with other leading orchestras.
