Contestation is brewing in the wake of last night's "American Idol" season finale - and it has nothing to do with the conflict between champ Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

Seemingly, there was some behind-the-scenes trouble with last season's winner, Lee DeWyze.

DeWyze was sitting several rows back in the audience and not direct acknowledged during the telecast, leading some observers to think something had gone down.

The plot calloused earlier today.

 the show's executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe,, tweeted, "I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn't present the winner’s trophy to Scotty. Especially as he'd been on the show this Season. I guess he was shy."

Did DeWyze really refuse to take part in McCreery's coronation?

According to the Season 9 winner, that's not just what happened.

"Just for the record… I was not asked to be involved in the Finale," DeWyze tweeted early on this evening.

"It wasn't until about 2 minutes before they announced [the winner] that Nigel had approached me and asked if he could 'borrow' me for a second. I didnt feel a last second jump on stage was appropriate. It was Scotty's moment."

"I appreciate American Idol, and the opportunity it has given me. And the people who have made that show possible."

"I am not angry, or bitter etc. It was an amazing Finale, and I would have loved to be a part of it. I just wasnt asked."

DeWyze also congratulated both McCreery and Alaina.

Lauren Alaina's lost voice and song for mother

Lauren Alaina lost her voice:

Lauren Alaina is sitting in the makeup chair silently because an "American Idol" doctor has frozen her throat in a last dump effort to save her voice ... descries on the "Idol" set.

TMZ broke the story ... Lauren lost her voice and could not ending rehearsing for tonight's finale.

Producers have brought Haley Reinhart to the set and she is currently in wardrobe.  If Lauren can't contend, Haley will settle against Scotty McCreery for the title.

We're told Haley just completed rehearsing, and if she does compete tonight she'll sing 3 songs, "House of the Rising Sun," "I Who Have Nothing" and "Bennie and the Jets."

Lauren Alaina sings for her Mother:

It was a night of wall-to-wall music on a particular Tuesday episode of 'American Idol'.

With but a single hour to pack in three rounds of contender between Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, there was hardly time to even get judges' comments, much less make excited moments.

For the third round, though, Alaina managed to do just that with a absolutely suited song. Jimmy Iovine chose the song, which will become her single if she wins the season. We have a feeling it might just get released even if she comes in second, though.

The song is 'Like My Mother Does,' and ironically was released first on seventh season finalist Kristy Lee Cook's album.

As the youngest contestant in the show who's had her mother by her side since day one, though, Alaina was able to link up with the lyrics and truly make it her own.

She even made her way out to the audience to embrace her mother during the performance, and by the time the comments were through, Jennifer Lopez had made a bold prognostication that left both Lauren and her mother in tears.

"With that song you may have just won," Lopez said.

But was it enough to excel McCreery's fanatical fan-base? The judges gave a slight edge to Alaina on the night, but it is decidedly anyone's game. Can she break the bar of male winners on 'American Idol'?
